Welcome to the official Trippin’ Over Texas blog created by me, Sioux-Z (pronounced Sue-Zee).
I’m sure you are wonderin’ who the heck I am and why I created this site.
Well, it all sparked from sending and receiving some old-fashioned snail mail.
Since the mid-1980’s, I have been “pen-paling” with letter writing enthusiasts all over the world.
Often we would swap D.I.Y. zines, postcards, photos or little mementos that represent where we are from.
As a result, I have been scouring local towns in search of items which uniquely depict what it’s like to be a Texan and items that would offer my readers a glimpse into life in Texas.
However, instead of just mailing stuff to my pen-pals, many of them had been asking for years to connect with me via social media.
I avoided that option for the most part in fear that the art of letter writing and snail mail would for sure become extinct. Then last year, in 2016, I finally gave in and created my own Twitter account.
Months and several social media accounts later, I finally got the idea to combine what I’ve already been doing with what I want to do for the rest of my life.
Thus began my quest to become a full-time, amateur blogging, picture-taking, travelin Texan.
My goal for this site is to visit as many Texas towns each month all while sharing tips I’ve learned from doing so. Everything from where to park to how to experience the town like a local.
I’ve been known to be quite thrifty so you can expect I will be throwing in some great ways to save on whatever it is I am doing. I am always looking for a coupon, promotional freebie, or bartering opportunity.
I still believe in southern hospitality and that a handshake is as legally binding as a 5 page written contract.
